Karen Louise Hinkle

December 16, 1941 — March 22, 2023

Karen Louise Hinkle of Garrettsville, Ohio made her final transition on March 22, 2023. Karen was born December 16, 1941. In her young adult years she attended Kent State University and earned her Bachelors degree in teaching english and teaching special need students. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) from Hiram College. Karen began her career at Cuyahoga Falls School district. She retired from education from Brunswick School district in 1997. During her years of retirement she enjoyed immersing herself in her fiber art. In her last exhibit in Auburn, New York, Karen was identified as an international artist. She also was the director of education for many years at her local churches.

Anyone who met Karen would know she had a unique love for life and was full of magic. She gave a piece of her heart to every child she encountered, striving to make a difference. Karen had the gift of working as a gentle soul with children who required additional learning supports. Children in general, were a priority for Karen. But her grandkids were a priority like no other. For most of her life, she was a mother, a wife, and a teacher, but the true excitement came when she finally got the title “grandma.” Karen loved to share about the success of her kids and grandkids, she was able to find major accomplishments in small everyday things like getting out of bed. It came easy to her to celebrate one another. Any time a grandkid called with good news, it was met with a, “way to go, kiddo!” When she retired and really got to delve into her fiber art, she found it a great way to express her love for nature as well as genuine kindness and positivity. Karen lived, and she loved. She had a full life full of excitement and true happiness.

Karen is survived by her illustrious husband of almost 29 years, her 2 big hearted sons, her 5 superstar grandchildren, and many, many good friends.

In honor of Karen, make a good decision, and help a kid out. Whether that be donating to your local foster agency or donating books to your local school district. Give a little. Karen always did.
