Ann L. Hulett, 87 years old , of Catlettsburg, KY, joined her family in the presence of the Lord, Saturday, March 21, 2026. Born October 24, 1938 in Catlettsburg, Ky, the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Stewart and Virgie Mae Coffey Stewart. She was preceded in death by her six older siblings, Bill Stewart, James Stewart, Don Stewart, Jo Banfield, Armenta "Ninnie" Hulett and Imogene Spangler. Also waiting for her in Heaven, her husband, Ervin Hulett.

After graduating from Catlettsburg High School, she married her first love, Carl Thomas Vaughan, and began her life as a wife and mother. And since life has a way of sending us onto different paths, Ann joined the work force, eventually working for the Boyd County Detention Center as a Deputy Matron. She fully embraced this important position where she was able to positively influence a population of souls who were" just trying to make their way to a better life," as she often said. She won the trust and respect of many, including coworkers, who lovingly referred to her as Ms. Ann. She was so proud of her work, after retiring after nearly 30 years with the Boyd County Detention Center, she continued to carry her badge in her purse always, everywhere, and forever. In addition to her pride in her work, was her children and grandchildren who she loved in her own special way. Her sons heard her say many times " God gave me exactly what I wanted... one brown eyed son and one blue eyed son." Her kindness to friends, family and strangers will be missed.

Ann leaves behind two beloved sons, Carl Timothy Vaughan (Anita Dalton Vaughan) and Donald Gene Burkes II (Joanne Ruggles Burkes). She had three grandsons, Carl Timothy Vaughan, Jr.( Angela Sheperd Vaughan), Noah Tyler Vaughan(Sage Quin-Vaughan) and Bobby Ruggles. She was also blessed with four great grandchildren...Chase Timothy Vaughan and Alyssa Nicole Vaughan( Tim and Angela) and Delayne Star Quin-Vaughan and Teagen Eleanor Quin-Vaughan(Sage and Noah) Also surviving is a younger brother, Carl Michael Stewart and a dear friend, Lee Allen May.

In respect of Ann's wishes, she will be interred into resting next to her husband at Golden Oaks Cemetary, Catlettsburg, KY, with a simple graveside service, Friday, April 10th. Saying goodbye will be hard. But as Ann would say, "I'll do it tomorrow."
