Anne E. Scarberry

October 20, 1952 — February 16, 2024

Anne E. Scarberry (nee Schomp) passed away on February 16, 2024, in Racine, Ohio, at the age of 71. She was born on October 20, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio. Anne was a loving and caring individual who touched the lives of many with her warm personality. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with open arms, treating them like family.


Anne dedicated her career to helping others as a Crew Leader for adults with disabilities at Meigs Industries in Syracuse, Ohio. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, watching HGTV, playing cards with her family, and spending time with her great granddaughter.


She is survived by her daughters Carolee Richards, Jennifer Shortridge (Fred Nero), and Roberta (Vince) Ervin, along with her grandchildren Cody Richards, Sylvia (Kyle) Riffle, Dalton Shortridge, Silas Nero, Nathanial Nero, and Trayvin Ervin. Anne also loved her Great Granddaughter, Kylie Riffle and was looking forward to the arrival of another great granddaughter in July. She is also survived by her sisters Susan (Marlin) Sayers and Kathy (Terry) Woodbury, as well as her best friends Phillip Schmidt and Renee Bentley, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.


Anne was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Frederick Scarberry, Jr., her parents Robert and Mary Jane Schomp, her sister Linda Rodriguez, and her best friend Theresa Bell.


Special thanks to Dr. Kelli Cawley and the Oncology Department of Marietta Memorial Hospital, the Passport program of Ohio, and Amydesis Hospice for the great love and care that was taken with Anne!


A celebration of life will be held at a later date in memory of Anne. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Marietta Memorial Department of Oncology, the Passport Program of Ohio, Amydesis Hospice, or a cancer-related charity of your choice. Anne will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
