Barbara Voss Stauter

1955 — 2025

Barbara Voss Stauter, age 70, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and quiet strength.

Born in Dayton, OH in 1955, Barbara was a proud graduate of St. Helen Parish School 1969, of Carroll High School, Class of 1973 and Sinclair Community College 1975. She worked as a radiologic technician for many years prior to serving senior adults with end-of-life care. From a young age, she carried a compassionate heart and a natural desire to care for others, leading her into a lifelong healthcare career. Barbara devoted herself to senior caregiving, offering dignity, patience, and warmth to those in their final chapters. It was her gift to give.

Barbara was a gentle soul who found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. She had a great sense of humor and was always up for some fun! Her deep love for animals was evident in the way she cared for every creature. She believed that every life—human or animal—deserved tenderness and respect.

Those who knew Barbara knew her as a fiercely loyal and trusted friend and sibling, someone who could be counted on without question. Her laughter was easy, her advice heartfelt, and her presence comforting. She was the kind of friend who remembered birthdays, checked in on hard days, and always made time to listen.

Barbara’s life was a quiet but powerful testament to love in action—through her work, her friendships, and her care for all living things. She handled the challenges she faced with perseverance and grace. Her warmth will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In honor of Barbara, her family invites friends to remember her by extending acts of kindness to someone in need or by donating to a local animal shelter—both things she did often and without hesitation.

She leaves behind a community of friends, loved ones, and grateful hearts in her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ann Voss and her brother Richard Voss Jr.. She is survived by two loving sisters. Jan (Voss) Galiardo of Dayton, OH and Kelly (Voss) Collison of Cincinnati, OH. A brother-in-law, Blane Collison of Cincinnati, OH. She has a friend in her ex-husband Chris Stauter of Xenia, OH, loving daughter Melissa (Stauter) Hunt and son-in-law, Ben Hunt and two granddaughters, Lillian Hunt and Lola Hunt of Phoenix, AZ., Her loving nephew and niece in law, Rick and Heather Galiardo and their three children, her God daughter Madison (Galiardo) Hayes, her husband Liam Hayes and their daughter, Eleanor, Luke Galiardo and Anneleise Galiardo of Dayton, OH and her nephew, Quinn Collison of Cincinnati, OH.

Her Light continues in the lives she touched.

“The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.” — Oscar Wilde
