Betty Jean Hale, age 93, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, surrounded by love.
Betty Jean lived a long and meaningful life defined by strength, independence, and devotion to her family. She was nurturing by nature, strong in spirit, and known for her tireless work ethic. Betty Jean loved sharing stories of her life and past experiences, passing down history, wisdom, and laughter that will be cherished for generations.
She dedicated many years of loyal service to Cantwell Machinery, from which she retired, taking great pride in her work and accomplishments.
Family was the heart of Betty Jean’s life. She treasured time spent together, meaningful conversations, and the traditions that bound generations. Her love was steady and unconditional, leaving a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Mason Ogilvie; her father, Asa Ogilvie; her daughters, Marilyn Politis and Beverly Oakes; her sister, Joan Baker; her beloved grandson, Dylan Michael Hale; and her lifetime companion of 62 years, Eric Tubbs.
Betty Jean is survived by her children, Debra (Ike) Chandler and Michael (Tammy) Hale; her grandchildren, Michelle Barnes, George Griffith, Latisha Britton, Alissa Crump, Tracey Butcher, Eboni Compnotta, Tia Oakes, and Luke Hale; several great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Though she will be deeply missed, Betty Jean’s life was one beautifully lived. Her strength, nurturing spirit, and treasured stories will forever remain in the hearts of those blessed to know her.
