Betty Joyce Samons

Betty Joyce Samons, age 96, passed away peacefully June 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, devotion, and love. She was born in Glo, Kentucky on May 27, 1930, to the late William F. and Delilah (Smith) Jenkins.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 75 years marriage, Edmond Steelie Samons; sisters, Nina Ruth, Marie Collins, Willa Dyment, and Priscilla Sue Clark; brother, James Jenkins; granddaughter, Melissa Register; and daughter-in-law, Stella Samons.

She is survived by her brother, Douglas (Abigail) Jenkins; her children, Notocha Samons, Patricia (Stanley) Poth, and Mark Samons; her grandchildren, Tammy, Christopher, Michael, and Joseph; three great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Betty retired from General Motors after 25 years of dedicated service and was a member of UAW.

She was a member of Shepherd Nazarene Church and Havens Corners Church. Throughout the years, she faithfully served her church family and was very active, including Sunday School teacher, church board member, choir member, Fellowship of Christian Women and Missionary treasurer.

She volunteered at WCVO Radio Station and worked at the local election polls.

Betty happily enjoyed her home, collecting cookbooks and writing poetry. Most of all, she loved, mentored, and cared deeply for her family.

Interment at Glen Rest Cemetery with her husband Ed.
