Crystal Rutter

May 28, 1964 — July 7, 2025

Crystal Ireene (Moore) Rutter May 28, 1964 – July 7, 2025

Crystal Ireene Rutter, of Laurelville, passed away peacefully on July 7, at the age of 61. In her final chapter she accepted Jesus Christ as her saviour; a step that brings her family peace and comfort.

Crystal’s adventure began on May 28,1964 where she learned responsibility early on and was a devoted older sister. She met her soulmate, Rodney Rutter, as a teenager at Laurelville’s Fireman’s Festival in 1979. They were married February 28,1981. They built a life together in Laurelville, Ohio where they raised seven children and welcomed friends and strangers into their home. Crystal was known to many as “Mom”.

Crystal loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She could be counted on to lend an ear, a shoulder to cry on, or a drink depending on the situation. Crystal was a force to be reckoned with and would come to the defense of her kids and grandkids without hesitation. She enjoyed spending time in the yard tending to her flowers and plants, listening to classic rock, caring for her cats, and could always be found cheering for Dale Earnhardt. Crystal always had her nose in a book and passed down a love for reading to her children. She leaves behind a legacy of family first followed by “ride it hard” and “seatbelts are free!”

Crystal is preceded in death by her mother, Elsie (Travis) Brown; father Bobby Ray Moore; and sister Candy (Moore) DeHart. She is survived by her beloved husband Rodney Rutter Sr; their children Amber Rutter (Matt Wharton), Rodney Rutter Jr, Jesse (Erin) Rutter, Jacob (Brittney) Rutter, Amelia (Matthew) Tisdale, Benjamin (Jenna) Rutter and Noah Rutter (Rebecca Diehl); daughter-in-law Jillian Uhrig; brother Joe (Lynna) Mullins; sister Violet (Jeremy) Woodruff; and 19 adored grandchildren, each of whom carry a piece of her heart.

Crystal’s passion for life and fierce love for her family illuminated her days. Her legacy lives on through every lesson she taught, every hug she gave, and every moment she made special in her own Crystal way. May she rest in peace, wrapped in divine love and remembered always as the radiant soul she was.

A small memorial will be held at the Pleasant Hill Community Church located at 15290 OH-327 Laurelville, OH 43135 from 2-4pm on Saturday, July 19th. A celebration of life “Crystal Style” will follow the memorial at her home in Laurelville.
