Dan Bastin, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026.
Dan devoted his life and career to helping others, guided by his faith and a desire to serve. Whether through ministry, social work, or counseling, he made a lasting impact on the communities he served. He loved his work and continued it well into his late 70s. He was a true Jeep man, driving many into the ground while commuting between Columbus and Chillicothe. He was proud of his hometown of Mount Vernon and was also an advocate for Pittsburgh and the state of Maine.
Dan lived many wonderful years and always had a story to tell. His humor, faith, and genuine interest in people made him memorable to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his children; Dan, Julie Campbell (Phil), Jaime Krafthefer, Nathaniel (Laura) and Colin and grandchildren: Aidan, Riley and Owen. Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by his daughter Rebekah and his brother Richie (Joan).
