Daniel Timothy Reese, 65, passed away December 14, 2023, at the Ohio State University Hospital, from injuries sustained in a natural gas explosion at his residence at WinBeri Apartments, Marietta, Ohio, on November 14. He was born on September 15, 1958, to Daniel “Tim” and Constance Reese. He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his mother, Marietta, Ohio, sister Susan Berry of Fleming, Ohio, niece Jan Myers (Ben) and great-niece Rhys, Easley, South Carolina, niece Jo Ellen Berry, Pendleton, South Carolina, and his cat Bullet, the fire kitty. He was a 1976 graduate of Warren High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in 1980 and a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in 1983. He worked in economic development in Knoxville, Tennessee, for American Express in the travel industry in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and for Cakebread Winery in the wine industry in Napa, California, before returning to Ohio and working as a substitute teacher in Washington County schools. He loved travel, cartooning, cooking, entertaining, good wine, and classic movies. He will be remembered for his flair for drama and spirited personality. An informal celebration of his life will be held at the Boathouse Grille, 218 Virginia Street, Marietta, Ohio, on Sunday, January 28, from 3:00-5:00 pm. His name will be honored at the regularly scheduled 10:00 am mass at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, Marietta, on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
