David Young Baxter Jr

December 21, 1958 — May 30, 2025

David Y Baxter Jr, 66, passed away on May 30, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Licking Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his love ones.

David was a graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Photography. After college, he joined the military and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.

David was an avid, professional photographer, whether it was astrophotography, nature, storm or family photography. He passed on this love to his son, David. His other hobbies included building legos, woodworking, bowling, going to the range, among many others.

His greatest joys in life though were spending time with his family, remodeling his house with his wife, and traveling to see his kids.

David is survived by his wife, Lisa McDaniel who was his partner in life and best friend, and three children, Francean Baxter, David Y. Baxter III, and Heather Hocking, and his five grandchildren, Olive Hocking, Eleanor Hocking, Donald Hocking, Amelia Baxter, and Harley Kenes. As well as his siblings, Randall Baxter, Brett Baxter, Lesli Viana, and Derrick Baxter, and all his nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind the family he became apart of when he met his wife Lisa. Lisa’s children and grandchildren became a huge part of his life, Lauren Nappier, Jayden Nappier, Emmitt Nappier, Lea Gilg, Cameron Gilg, Abigail Gilg, Nicole Gingery, Dylan and Dawson Gingery.

David was preceded in death by his father, David Y Baxter, and mother, Mary Baxter.

He will be remembered by all for his funny stories, and his ability to make any stranger a friend. His absence will felt by all those who loved him.
