Debora Sue Myers

Debora Sue Myers (Patton), known to family and friends as “Debie” and “Deb,” passed away after a brief illness on Aug 30, 2026, at her home in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 75.

Debie was born Jun 19, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, to Russell Jordan Patton and Anna Pauline Aikin. She grew up in Mt. Sterling, Ohio. She graduated from Shadyside High School in 1969 and from Career Academy’s dental assisting program in 1970.

She is survived by her children, Jonathan (Rebekah) Kennedy and Whitney Myers; her grandchildren, Emma and Ashton Kennedy; her brother, Miles; her nieces and nephews; her great-nieces and great-nephews; and her cat, Callie Mae. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Janet.

For the past eight years, Debie worked for Lark Residential Support, where she served as both a driver and receptionist and became known to many simply as “Ms. Deb.” In her driving role, she helped provide transportation for people with disabilities in the community. Over the years, she held a variety of other jobs, including working as a driver’s education instructor, dental assistant, and home health aide. She also served her community as an election poll worker.

Debie was active at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Columbus, where she served as an elder on the Session. She frequently helped prepare for Communion and sang soprano in the church choir.

Debie could be quiet until she got to know you, but once she did, you might have trouble getting a word in edgewise. She sometimes kept her opinions to herself in public, though those closest to her knew she usually had plenty to say once she got home. She was strong-willed, loved her children and grandchildren deeply, and cared greatly for the people and pets she called her own.

Animals held a special place in Debie’s heart, especially cats and cows. Fortunately, she never had more than three cats at a time—just enough to remain safely on the respectable side of becoming “the cat lady.” Her fondness for cows went back to her childhood growing up on a dairy farm.

Debie’s family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service celebrating her life on Sep 12, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Life Community Church, 4400 Cemetery Road, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. Pastor Tom Burns will officiate.
