Dolores Elnora Hann Derr Obituary
Dolores Elnora Hann Derr, age 98, of Ashville, Ohio, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 12th, 2026. She was born in Pataskala, Ohio on July 5th, 1927 to Fern and Curtis Hann. Dolores spent her life nurturing the animals, land and her family. Her life was a blessing and our memories of her are our treasures.
Dolores (Dee) graduated from Hamilton High School in Obetz, Ohio. Her first job was working at the Obetz Coal and Grain store. In 1949, she married Alva T. Derr. They settled in Ashville, where they worked side by side operating a grain and dairy farm while raising their 5 children. Dee also worked as a cook at Teays Valley High School in the late 1960’s. After Alva passed way, she and her 5 children continued to manage and run the dairy farm. Though times were sometimes rough, she set an example of strength, faith and courage. Dee later worked at the Obetz Auto Auction until 1995. In later years, she loved attending sporting events, special recitals and 4-H shows for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dee was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she enjoyed being part of the Women of the Church, the Dorcas Circle and the church choir. She read and studied her daily devotions and was a compassionate soul.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alva of 21 years, her parents, as well as her 2 brothers and sisters in law: Edwin and Edith Hann, Melvin (Sam) and Imogene Hann and a brother in law Paul Ranft.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Kim) Derr, Janet (Chris) Schein, Julie (Robert) Good, Jay (Leslie) Derr, and Jack (Becky) Derr. She is also survived by her sister, Geneva Ranft and sister in law Carolyn and Robert Miller. Her grandchildren Blake Derr, Heather Daum, Andrea (Mike) Williams, Lucas (Shannon) Helser, Adam (Terra) Helser, Brooke (Ryan) Grashel, Aaron (Nicole) Derr, Alexandria (Aaron) Fielder, Jenna Derr. Also step-grandchildren Heith (Pam) Good, Justin (Christine) Good, Chris (Cassidy) Good and 26 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 11:00 am and visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6046 St. Paul Rd. Ashville, Ohio 43103. Please join us for a meal after the service in the church fellowship hall.
Dee requested that all donations be made to St. Paul church in lieu of flowers.
