Donald Joseph Murphy

Donald Joseph Murphy, AKA Joe Murphy, passed away in a bike accident on 01/19/2023.
Joe was born in Columbus, OH on 11/13/1949 to Benjamin and Martha (Alkire) Murphy.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a 1967 graduate of Mifflin High School and a 1973 Ohio State University grad in Chemical Engineering. He was Mid-Eight League champion in the 880 yard track run. He was also on the high school wrestling and cross country teams. He was a drummer in the high school band.
He was an active outdoor sports participant: biking, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, caving, among others.
He loved animals, especially cats. He was a defender of the environment.
He is survived by daughter Zoe Wichman, brothers John (Teresa) Murphy and David Murphy, sisters Mary (Glen) Morgan and Patricia (Mike) McAninch.
Joe was a tissue and organ donor thru Lifeline of Ohio. He will be greatly missed.
