Edward W. Meyers, known affectionately to all as Eddie, was a man whose laughter was as contagious as his zest for life. Born on August 17th, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, Eddie's journey through life was one filled with joy, humor, and an unshakeable spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. On October 27th, 2025, Eddie completed his grand tour at the age of 67, in the very city that he first called home, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived.
Eddie's heart was a treasure chest of love for his family. Though he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Theresa Meyers, and his doting parents, William Meyers, and Marty and Art Dobbins, his legacy thrives through his children, Edward (Amy) Meyers and Brian (Casey) Meyers. His grandchildren, Chase (Avree) Meyers, Haylee Meyers, Jace Peck, and Preslie Meyers, and his great-grandchildren, Forrest Ellis and Baby Boy Meyers, will carry on the Meyers' tradition of hearty laughter and boundless love. Eddie's siblings, Cheryl (Mark) Hosler, Beth (Chip) Downs, Theresa (Steve) McDonough, and Tony (Lori) Dobbins, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends, will forever cherish the memories of his jokes and his unwavering camaraderie.
Professionally, Eddie was the life of the party at Columbus Kenworth, where he worked in outside sales. His colleagues knew him as the guy who could sell ice to an Eskimo and then make them laugh about it afterward. Eddie's charm and wit were his superpowers, and he wielded them with the grace of a seasoned comedian. He was not just a salesman; he was a friend to all who had the pleasure of working with him.
A devout Christian, Eddie walked in faith and with a lightness of spirit that drew others to him. He was an ardent supporter of Notre Dame Football, and his passion for the sport was only matched by his love for bowling, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the St. Louis Cardinals, and a good round of karaoke. Eddie believed that life was a party, and he was often the last one to leave, ensuring that everyone had as much fun as he did.
Eddie's interests were more than just hobbies; they were extensions of his personality. Whether he was cheering on his favorite team, rolling a strike, or belting out tunes, he did it with a gusto that was uniquely his own. Drinking and having fun with friends and family wasn't just something Eddie did; it was his way of embracing life and making sure everyone around him was having as good a time as he was.
To say Eddie was funny would be an understatement; he was the embodiment of humor. His love was a blanket that warmed those around him, and his spirit was a beacon that lit up the darkest of rooms. Eddie never met a stranger, and his ability to connect with people on a genuinely personal level was a gift that he gave freely and often.
In life, Eddie Meyers was a man who could turn a simple gathering into an unforgettable event, a routine day into a memorable adventure. As we bid farewell to Eddie, let us do so with the laughter and joy he would have wanted. His stories, his jokes, and the echoes of his laughter will resonate in the hearts of those who loved him, today, tomorrow, and for all the days to come.
Eddie, you may have left the stage, but your one-liners, your infectious chuckle, and your indomitable spirit will remain with us forever. Here's to you, the man who taught us that life is best lived with a smile on your face, a song in your heart, and a cold drink in your hand. Cheers to Edward W. Meyers, a legend in his own right, whose final curtain call is met with a standing ovation and the roaring laughter of angels. A celebration of Eddie's life will be held at a later date.
