With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eric Francis Tubbs, Columbus, Ohio, 87, who departed this world on May 29, 2025, at home surrounded by his family after a short illness.

Eric was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, companion, sibling, and friend, cherished by all who knew him.

He was born on Jan. 22, 1938, in Blossburg, Pa, the son of the late Leon E. Tubbs Sr. and Edra F. (Allen) Tubbs. He was raised by his foster mother, the late Mrs. Mildred Fuller and her family in Wellsboro, Pa. Preceded in death by sisters, Betty E Springman, Wanita Felix, Marie Cole, Lorraine (Peggy) Van Marter; brothers, Leon and Richard.

Eric leaves behind Betty "Jean" Hale (companion) of over 50 years; his children, Theresa McFarland, Carol Coleman, Linda Hartley, John (Jenny) Tubbs; six grandchildren, and multiple great-grandchildren, all of Ohio; Additionally survived by a brother, Wayne E Tubbs (Sherri) of Elkland, Pa. and loving niece Diane (Charlie) Plankenhorn of Williamsport, Pa

A veteran of the Korean War, Eric's life was a testament to the values of compassion, resilience and integrity. He championed community involvement, and his opinions were frequently published in the Letters to the Editor section of the local newspaper, believing fervently in the importance of values, education, equality and kindness.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Though Eric is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

As we say goodbye, we find comfort in the memories Eric gifted us and the love that remains eternal.

Rest in peace, Eric. You will be missed beyond measure, and forever cherished.
