Gary L Hogue Jr.

July 4, 1961 — December 20, 2025

Gary L Hogue Jr, 64, left this world peacefully, stubborn to the end, with his loving wife of 45 years, Cheryl, beside him-protected, cherished and never alone.

He was born July 4,1961 in Lancaster, OH and was the son of the late Gary and Carol Hogue. Gary is also preceded in death by his sister, Theresa. Gary lived loudly, loved deeply and did things his way (“the right way”). Gary loved fishing, hunting and camping. Some of his happiest moments were spent at the camper where he enjoyed golf cart rides to watch the water, enjoy the quiet and share simple time with his family and friends at the Four Seasons Campground at Indian Lake. There are so many great memories of playing board games with the kids, the endless (and usually) hilarious fishing trips with his dad, and cousin, Scott. Above all, Gary was a devoted husband and loving and protective father and grandfather. He shared a lifetime of love, laughter and shared commitment with his best friend, Cheryl, and was a proud father to his children, Lee and Beth.

Gary is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, Lee (Ambyr), and daughter, Beth (Brian). He loved being a Papaw to his 6 grandchildren, Haylee, Aleesea, Hunter, Maddie, Gary and Gunnar; sisters, Marsha (Curt), and Heather (Bryan); sister-in-law, Lisa, mother-in-law, Jacki; numerous nieces and nephews and a small circle of very close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring, which was his favorite season (when the bluegills and crappie are biting) to honor his life. Gary has cast his line at the greatest fishing hole, where there is no pain, only peace, and where his spirit is forever at rest. Fish on, Gary. Until we see you again, BOOYAH!
