James B. Casey Jr., affectionately known by many as Jamie, passed away peacefully on June 21st, 2023, in Mt.Gilead Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Pikeville, Kentucky on April 22nd 1974, Jamie leaves a rich legacy of love and dedication that will forever echo in the lives that knew him.
Jamie is survived by his loving mother, Deborah, his devoted wife of 30 years, Amy, and his cherished children, Joshua (Cassady), Brittany (Wayne), Natasha (Michael). His memory will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Brantley, Sophia, Maria, Michaela. As well as his siblings, Tina, Harold (Sam), Matthew (Ray). Jamie was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tiny Abshire, Harold (Yvonne) Abshire. Father, James Casey Sr.
Jamie was a dedicated and skilled welder at Ohio Steel, where his work ethic, integrity, and commitment to quality were greatly admired. His colleagues will remember him for not only his professional skills but eagerness to help with a smile on his face.
Outside of work, Jamie was a man of diverse interests. He has an innate talent for working with his hands, which was evident in the intricate model cars he built. Jamie was also known to enjoy a good bike ride, and he found great joy in watching wrestling & UK basketball. A true gearhead, Jamie loved working on cars, a hobby that allowed him to combine his love for mechanics and his creative ingenuity.
In remembering Jamie, one can not over look his strength and resilience. Even as he battled cancer, his spirit remained undiminished. He faced his illness with courage, grace and a sense of humor, that inspired everyone around him. Jamie’s family was the center of his world, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Jamie’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance, love and joy. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were touched by his kindness and positivity. The loss of Jamie is profound, but the love and happiness he brought into the world will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Rest in peace, Jamie. Your love, laughter and kindness will forever be remembered, and your spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved you.
Celebration of life will be held, Friday June 30th, 2023 at 2pm, Mt.Gilead State Park Shelter House.
