James "Jimmy" Retzer

July 17, 1957 — March 10, 2026

James "Jimmy" Retzer, 68, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, in Lancaster, Ohio. Born on July 17, 1957, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Jimmy lived a life filled with love, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to the people and things he cherished most.

Jimmy was the beloved father of three daughters: Barbara Retzer, Jennifer Ford, and Rosa Knox. He took immense pride in his family and found great joy in spending time with his grandson Arthur. Whether it was sharing stories or simply enjoying each other's company, Jimmy treasured every moment with his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Leona Retzer; his nephew Milton Roe; and his brother-in-law George Hughes. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Jimmy had a unique zest for life that shone through in the simple pleasures he enjoyed. He could often be found playing the lottery or savoring a good beer while cheering on Ohio State. A loyal fan of the Fairfield County Fair’s cane game, he relished warm days spent on his porch bench and outings to his favorite restaurants. Watching the Weather Channel religiously was another of Jimmy's endearing habits—his curiosity about the world around him never faded.

Known for being generous, soft-spoken, loving, and steadfastly supportive of those he cared about, Jimmy also had a stubborn streak that made him all the more endearing. His pride in his daughters and loyalty to those he held dear were hallmarks of his character.

May Jimmy’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a reminder of the warmth and love he brought into their lives. A Memorial Service will be held on March 24, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 1910 Marietta Road NE. Visitation begins at 6:00 pm with Services starting promptly at 7:00 pm.
