Jan Eileen Walker

January 16, 1946 — October 28, 2024

Jan Gregg Walker, born on January 16, 1946, in Springfield, OH, but lived out most of her life in Bucyrus, OH, passed away on October 28, 2024, in Galion, OH, She spent many years over the course of her life in Bucyrus, Marion, Marysville, and finally Punta Gorda, FL where she spent most of her retirement. 

 

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family and spoiling her beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed time going camping with family, playing the piano, and going to the beach.

 

Jan was the daughter of Julia (Emory) and Fred Gregg. She is preceded in death by her brothers, George R. and Eugene, and her husband, Gregory G. Walker. In addition, she is also preceded by her special dog, Jessie, and her best friend and sidekick, Patty Foss.

 

Jan had a very large, loving family of whom she adored dearly. She is survived by her three children, Phill Schleenbaker, Julie Schleenbaker (Jeff Burgan), and Jill Dunnan (John). She was a proud grandmother to Megan (Joe) Cox, Joshua (Rachel) Schleenbaker, Kylie Rosebrough, Anna (Matt) Beatty, Jeremy (Sarah) Dunnan, Kalin Dunnan, Briana (Nick) Vogel, Nicole (Trevor) Hall, Jacob Burgan, Alexander Burgan, and Gabe Schleenbaker, along with her great-grandchildren Dakota, Cheyenne, Annaliese, Aiden, Brynn, Saylor, Ben, Gunnar, Leeland and Knox. In addition, she is also survived by her sister-in-law Idonna Gregg, nieces and nephew Steve Gregg, Sheri Gregg (Billie Jo), and Suzanne Gregg. Throughout her life, Jan held many jobs, but she forged lasting friendships during her years at Whirlpool Corporation in Marion, OH, where she worked before retiring. One of her proudest accomplishments was returning to college to become a court reporter after her retirement. She then went on to volunteer for the Sheriff's Department in Punta Gorda. Jan's legacy of love and dedication to her family will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She made a lasting impression on anyone who met her. She will be deeply missed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
