John Martin Bennett

John Martin "Marty" Bennett, born in Clintonville, Ohio, resident of Hilliard, Ohio passed away on May 15, 2025, age 76, at Indian Lake, Ohio.

Born on June 5, 1948, Marty was the beloved son of the late John "Jack" and Elizabeth "Libby" (Hughes) Bennett. A former Marine and devoted Catholic, Marty lived a life rooted in service, family, and community.

Marty built a career in the lawn industry before transitioning into a retirement role that brought him great joy delivering and demonstrating boats to new owners on Indian Lake. His love for the lake was evident to all who knew him, and he cherished his time spent there with friends, especially their regular Happy Hours hosted by Harold Porterfield. They had a motto "What's said under the umbrella stays under the umbrella".

He is survived by his loving wife, Leesa (Bruns), and their children: Mary Margaret "Maggie" Cake (Janson), Elizabeth Bennett, Patrick Bennett (Angie), and Katherine Bennett. Marty was a proud grandfather to Emilia and Elise Bennett and Georgia Cake.

A caring husband, father, brother, and grandfather, Marty’s warmth and humor left a lasting impression on those around him. He found deep happiness in the company of his family and friends and with the peaceful waters of Indian Lake.
