John Charles Frazier

John Charles Frazier, 87, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2026.  

Born on September 29, 1938, in Canton, Ohio, John was the only child of the late Howard and Ruth (Wise) Frazier. After graduating from McKinley High School in Canton, John ttended Ohio State University’s College of Engineering and graduated from its School of Architecture in 1963. He enjoyed overseeing the construction of new buildings and retired after 25 years as a project architect in Ohio State University’s Architects Office. He also designed and built his family home, incorporating his love of nature into the design. John lived a life filled with devotion to his family and service to others.

A Boy Scout throughout his childhood, John attended the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in 1954 and earned the Eagle Scout Award at the 1956 National Scout Jamboree in California. He also received the God and Country Award at Christ United Presbyterian Church in Canton, Ohio.

It was at church that John met the love of his life, Sandra (Robertson). They married in 1961, moved to Columbus, and later relocated to Delaware, Ohio. John was a caring husband to Sandy for over 65 years and a loving father to Leanne (Jeffrey, deceased) Bloede, Colleen (David) Pettit, and Daniel (Aimee) Frazier. He was a proud grandfather to Christa (Trey) Back, Troy Bloede, Arden (Leah) Pettit, Dawson Pettit, Nicholas Devor, Cameron Frazier, and Aidan Frazier, as well as great grandfather to Lydia and River Back. John was a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church in Delaware, Ohio for many years.

John had a lifelong fascination with trains and enjoyed sharing this passion with family and friends. He loved building and setting up model railroad displays and made wonderful friendships through the Central Ohio S Gauge Model Railroad Club, serving as both a past president and past trustee during his time with the club. John was honored to be the first recipient of the Alan H. Evans Meritorious Service Award in recognition of his leadership and dedication to the Central Ohio S Gaugers. He also was a member of the National Model Railroad Association, the National Association of S Gaugers, and the Circus Model Builders.

Throughout his life, John had a fondness for dogs and was a proud member of the Golden Endings Golden Retriever Rescue. He and Sandy adopted many dogs, including several that had special needs.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Howard L. and Ruth Pauline (Wise) Frazier; grandparents, Charles and Lina Grace (Anthony) Frazier, Harry and Clara (Gibson) Wise, and Helen (Bergmeyer) Wise; uncles, Walter Frazier and Billy Wise; aunts, Miriam (Wise) Casper and Kay (Wise) Julian; and cousins, George Frazier, Barbara (Frazier) Cazzarin, George Casper Jr., Charlene (Casper) Phillabaum, and Doug Wise; also sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Agnes (Herman) Gillette, Sara (Bill) Crail, Jay (Irma) Robertson, Virgil (Ethel) Robertson, and Nelson (Joanne) Robertson.

John is survived by his cousins, Helen Frazier, Thelma (Risher) Casper, Claudia (Casper) and Dale Wolfe, Gail (Julian) and Eric Mueller, RaeJean Wise, Debbie (Wise) and Tim Hostetler.  John was a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for John will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Presbyterian Church, 7080 Olentangy River Road, Delaware, OH 43015. A reception will follow in the lower level of the church.

With the help of the hematology team at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, John survived Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia for many years. Thanks also to CapitalCity Hospice for their compassionate care of John at home.
