Karen Lee Loper

Karen Lee (Alspach) Loper, 77 years old of Gambier, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025 following a short illness.

Karen, born on October 28, 1947, in Newark Ohio, to the late Junior and Harriet Alspach, later moved to Johnstown, Ohio, she attended cosmetology school in Columbus, Ohio. As a beautician, she worked for many years in Granville, Ohio, where she developed a large clientele and made many friends. Karen was known for never meeting a stranger and always seeing the best in people. In addition to her love for people, her love for animals was even greater.

A loving mother, grandmother and friend Karen will be greatly missed by her sons Shawn and Aaron (Denise) Loper and her adored grandson Mason Loper. She also leaves behind her brother in law Ronald Loper and her 4-legged friends Molly and Clyde.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Hospice of Licking County 2269 Cherry Valley Rd SE, Newark, Ohio 43055.

The family extends a special Thank You to the staff of Newark Health & Rehab and Hospice of Licking County for the exceptional care they provided during Karen’s final months.
