With a heavy heart and a loving spirit, we announce the passing of Donald Lee Bell, Jr., best known by his stage name, Mann, aka Redd, aka Roc (& possibly a few other aliases, lol). Born on February 25, 1964, he was called to the grand stage in the sky on July 11, 2023, in Columbus, OH.
He played many roles in his life - son, brother, uncle, cousin, father & friend. But his most cherished role was being Mann, the man who could make you laugh. He was a faithful, well-liked, employee with the United Methodist Church For All People. He loved his work, not just because it paid the bills, but because it allowed him the opportunity to beautify his surroundings. While giving back to his community. He was known for his unique method of cleanliness and organization. At the end of the day, you could always depend on his tasks being completed in excellence with pride.
Mann had a deep love for music, especially easy listening and R&B. He believed that life was a song and that laughter was its best melody. He was always ready to hit the road, meet new people, and share his humor. His infectious laughter and charismatic charm made him a magnet, especially among the ladies. He was known to be an attentive admirer, always ready with a compliment that would make any woman blush and laugh at the same time. Mann was not just a charmer; he was a beacon of joy and laughter in a world that often needed it. He left us too soon, but his jokes, his laughter, and his spirit will echo in our hearts and minds forever.
As we say goodbye to Mann, let's remember him not with tears, but with laughter, because that's how he would have wanted it. A text he sent me a few months ago reads:
GM, Babe, death is a teacher. It teaches us not to waste time, and it teaches us to tell each other right now that we love one another. I love you, be blessed.
Rest assured, Mann, your final kind gentle words will continue to illuminate our lives, and your laughter will continue to resonate in our hearts. Rest in peace, Mann, you truly were a class act.
