Nellie Ruth (Scott) Hackney

On May 25, 2025, Nellie Ruth (Scott) Hackney was called home to be with the Lord.

Nellie was born to James and Lola Scott in Burnwell, KY on June 4, 1938. She graduated from Belfry High School in Belfry, KY before moving to Ohio. Nellie attended and was baptized at High Street Baptist Church. She was a long-time member of the Improved Order of Red Man, Degree of Pocahontas and Scioto Council #26, P.G.P. She retired after 20 years of service from Sanese Services.

Nellie is survived by sons: Michael E. (Cheryl) Hackney and William G. Hackney; sisters Phyllis (Vance) Studelyn and Betty Reed; grandchildren Derick Hackney, Laura (Greg) Winchester, Jenna Hackney and Marie (Josh) Spaulding, along with great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents, James & Lola Scott; sisters Marie Milam, Loretta Miller and Lillian Robinett; brothers Dennis Scott, Cecil Scott, Carlos Scott and Billy Scott and daughter Marsha A. Upton.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Country View of Sunbury for loving Nellie like family, and to Bella Care Hospice.

Rest peacefully, Nellie. You will be deeply missed as our mom, sister, grandma, aunt and friend, but never forgotten.
