Olin Raymond Miers 13 Nov 1944 - 01 May 2026
Olin, for the past 10 months, a resident at the Columbus Colony for the Deaf in Westerville, Ohio, has passed away due to the complications of age. He was born in Hillman, Minnesota, the 9th of 11 siblings, and the only one to be born in a hospital. He grew up on the small family farm and graduated from Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf before attending Gallaudet College (now known as Gallaudet University). He fell in love with our Nation’s Capitol, and thereafter spent most of his life within 30 miles of DC. He had a great appreciation for the “pretty things” in this world. Architecture. Nature. People. Sunsets. Weddings. Oak & walnut woodwork. His 1968 (1969?) Ford Mustang. And FAMILY.
He was preceded in death by his Parents: Raymond Henry George Miers (53) and Molly Petersen Jensen (59), and by his siblings, Marvin Raynard (age 89), Stella Darlene (Johnson) (~86), Emma Matilda (Pinault) (20), Robert Wayne (70), & Peggy Lou (Cooley) (78).
He is survived by his siblings Lorraine Mae (Irwin) (91), Elaine Marie (Beery) (89), Vernon Roy (87), Thelma Anna (Scott) (84), Erwin Henry (80), and at least 37 nieces and nephews. He was previously married to Audrey Petrie, and later, to Sanremi (Sandi) Larue.
