Patricia G Stoneman

Patricia (Patty) Stoneman passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 22, 1940, Patty was the oldest child of John and Pauline Bandzak. She graduated from Brookfield High School and went on to earn a nursing degree from The Ohio State University.

On August 8, 1964, Patty married her husband Richard and the two spent the next 59 years together before his passing in November 2023.

A lifelong caregiver and teacher, Patty began her career at Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing where she taught in the cardiac department until the school’s closure. She later served as a triage nurse in the emergency department at Robinson Memorial Hospital until her retirement.

Not many people could match Patty’s remarkable energy and work ethic. Between her busy career and taking care of her family and farm alongside her husband, she was active in several organizations and loved to host parties and bake — two things that her family, friends and coworkers always appreciated benefitting from. Even in her final days, she was still asking if she could get her family and nursing staff dinner, a testament to her kind heart and passion for taking care of those around her.

During her well-earned retirement years, Patty and Richard spent their time doing what they loved most — creating memories with their family and friends. Whether it was sewing 25 princess dresses for a princess-themed birthday party, planning “special days” to celebrate her grandkids’ birthdays by doing an activity of their choosing or being there whenever they needed a creative solution for a school project, her grandkids are left with countless warm memories of a grandma who was always there for them. She also loved going on cruises, spending time with her animals and baking hundreds of Christmas cookies each year to deliver to friends and family before the holiday.

Patty is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edward and husband, Richard. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Merrifield, daughter Sherry (Bruce) Jones, son Bill (Rochelle) Stoneman and grandchildren: Lindsey (Steven) Zivoder, Lauren Jones, Kylie (Brandon) Moore and Colton Stoneman.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Gables of Westerville for their exceptional care and compassion for Patty in her final days.

Patty will always be remembered for her kindness, dedication to others and love she poured into family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, grace and joy for all those who were fortunate to know her.

The family will host a celebration of life in Patty’s honor in September. More details to follow.
