Peggy Priscilla (Hardin) Cannon, age 79 of Newark, Ohio passed on to eternal rest on April 11, 2026 from complications of kidney failure. She was born on January 11th, 1947 in Hampton, Tennessee to William Hardin and Hazel (Stout) Hardin.
Peggy was a 1966 Graduate of Black River High School in Sullivan, Ohio. She previously worked at ConStar (Sewell Plastics), BarJan Industries, and Securitas Security Services prior to her retirement. She most enjoyed her past volunteer work at the Licking County Food Pantry where she earned Volunteer of the Year Award. She was known for being a hard worker and was often commended for her attention to detail, efficiency, and dependability. She had a spicy personality and was not afraid to tackle any task or obstacle. She was a great cook and enjoyed making her down home Tennessee style meals. She also liked to crochet in her spare time.
She is survived by Daughter Melissa Valentine and Daughter-in-law Marty Valentine, Grandchildren Beckett Valentine, Karsyn Valentine of Delaware, Ohio; and Patricia (Matt) Stout of Johnson City, Tennessee. Surviving siblings are sisters Wilma (Kevin) Brooks of Sullivan, Ohio, Ernestine (Frank) Ensign of Spencer, Ohio, and David (Kwi) Hardin of Saint Robert, Missouri. She also has many surviving Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Great Grandchildren of Hampton, Tennessee and the Spencer, Ohio areas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Hardin (Spencer, OH); Hazel (Stout) Hardin (Hampton, TN); Son James McCollum (Johnson City, TN); Brothers Kenneth Hardin (Parsons, TN) and Dean Hardin (Spencer, OH).
Private celebration of life with interment will be held at Morton Cemetery, Hampton, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to express sympathy or honor her life, may make a donation to their local Humane Society, Domestic Violence Shelter or Senior Center/Aging Program.
