Richard David Lutz

Richard David Lutz, 60, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, from ALS. He was born July 18, 1965, to Dennis and Susan (McGinnis) Lutz of Zanesville, Ohio. Rick was raised in Galion, Ohio, and graduated from Galion Senior High School in 1983.

His parents and his stepmother, Boo Lutz, survive. Rick is also survived by brothers Braden and Brode Lutz and Michael McGinnis; sisters Caryanne Lutz and Caden (Andy) Clark; children Addison and Hilary; granddaughters Olive and Gladys; Uncle Dave and Aunt Susan Lutz; and many cousins.

While Rick was confined to nursing facilities in Zanesville and Newark, Ohio, he was visited regularly by family. His Aunt Deb was especially devoted to daily visits.

Rick, formerly of Florida, loved living near the Gulf. He requested that his ashes be scattered over the water. A close friend, April Hoaglin, claimed the honor of spreading Rick's ashes over the water of the Gulf of America.

Rick designed and built boats for most of his adult life, working for various boat companies in Ohio, Florida, and Kansas.

Rick loved sports cars, riding his motorcycle, and watching car racing on TV. His presence will be missed by all.
