Robert Terry Steinhauser, known affectionately as Terry to his friends and loved ones, was a man whose vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on the world. Born on November 7, 1953, in Elmira, NY, Terry's journey through life was one of passion, dedication, and joy. He passed away on May 4, 2024, in Columbus, OH, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unforgettable memories.
Terry's legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Donna, his daughter, Anastasia (Jon) Dobucki and grandchildren Sean and Olivia. He is also survived by brother Howard (Steiny) and wife Georgie; sister Lynne and husband Theron; sister Lucinda (Cindy) and husband Michael; and many nieces and nephews. Terry was predeceased by his father, Robert Steinhauser, his mother, Bettie Feig, and his son, Andre Steinhauser. Terry’s memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories and the hearts of those he touched.
Terry's life was a testament to his friendly and faith-filled nature. He was a dedicated member of Madison Christian Church in Groveport, where his voice resonated with joy and devotion as part of the choir. His love for music and fellowship was evident in each note he sang and in the smiles he brought to the faces of the congregation.
A patriot at heart, Terry served his country with honor as a small weapons instructor in the Air Force. His commitment to excellence and his ability to inspire others were evident in his military service and carried over into his civilian life. Terry's career as a newscast director spanned several cities, including Elmira, NY; Rochester, NY; Hyannis, MA; and Columbus, OH.
In his later years, Terry continued to impact lives through his work as an audio/video technician at Mt. Carmel West and Grove City, as well as the US District Court. His technical expertise and willingness to go the extra mile made him a valued colleague.
A man of diverse interests, Terry's love for the cinematic world was unparalleled. He was a true movie aficionado, cherishing the stories and artistry displayed on the silver screen. His knowledge of films, from the classics to the latest releases, made him an interesting conversationalist and a cherished companion on movie nights.
He was also an avid Boston Bruins and Indy car fan, where he found joy in the thrill of the game and the race. Music, particularly jazz, resonated with him, providing a soundtrack to his life's many moments. In his younger days, he could be found on the tennis courts, engaging in friendly competition and savoring the sport he loved.
As we bid farewell to Terry, we reflect on a life well-lived and the imprints he left on the world. His journey was one of purpose, warmth, and connection, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. However, we do not grieve without hope. 1 John 5:11 says “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son”. Terry put his faith in the death, burial and resurrection of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And because of that, we know that Terry is now part of the heavenly choir singing praises to God Almighty.
