Ronald Eugene Girod

Ronald (Ron) Eugene Girod, age 79 of Gahanna, OH, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, after battling Alzheimer’s. Ron was born on April 26,1947, in Lebanon, OH, the son of Ernest and Ruth Girod.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sandy; his brother, Kim; his daughter, Kimberley; his granddaughter, Brandee; and his grandson, Josh. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Pat, his children, Karen Wheeler (Andrew), Shannon Schroeder (Mark), and Chad Girod (Krista); his sister, Pam Guthrie (Barry); and his brother-in-law, Ed Grueser. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, many extended family members and dear friends.

As a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Ron looked out for his family and those closest to him no matter what the issue. He took pride in everything he did. He could fix anything you needed and was the go-to person for that tool, pocketknife, band aid or anything you needed,

Ron was proud of his accomplishments, he was an Eagle Scout, after college he worked in Syracuse NY for GE Heavy Military Engineering, met his wife and moved to Columbus OH, where he spent 34 years with Bell Labs/Lucent and 13 years with Continental Office Solutions. He enjoyed woodworking, listening to country music and hanging out with his buddies Tim Donohue, Brian Healey, Denver Lanham, Tom Neely and his college friend Pete Warga.

Ron will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but we will never forget the memories and laughter we all shared with him. Pat and Ron shared a special Anne Murray song “Could I have this Dance, please go to YouTube and play the song in memory of Ron.
