Ruth Ellen (Souder) Crabtree

Ruth Ellen (Souder) Crabtree, age 86, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 16, 2025. She was born on August 23, 1938, in Gahanna, Ohio, to the late Alta and Floyd Souder.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Crabtree; her siblings Joe, Mace, Dan, Bob, Lou (“Blue Eyes”), Marian, Jake, Nellie, Lucille, and Mildred; and her longtime friend and companion, Frank Morris.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Kathy Hogle and Karen (Steve) Eckes; her grandchildren, Tony (Krista), Derrick (Leza), Allie, and Emily; and her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Chloe, Camden, Cooper, and Maxton. Ruth also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Betty, Esther (Richard), and Mary; sisters-in-law Mary-Lou, Carol, and Sue; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend and caregiver, Russ Holloway (Aimee), whose companionship and support meant so much to her and her family.

Ruth had a warm heart and a generous spirit. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—browsing garage sales, laughing with friends at the community center, her daily visits to Wendy’s for a cheeseburger and Sprite, and, most of all, spending time with those she loved.

Her presence brought comfort and joy to everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held later, in accordance with the family’s wishes.
