Sara was born on April 29, 1930, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Mark and Sara Hannah.
She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Ironton, Ohio, and attended Edgecliff College in Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as Ohio University Portsmouth. Before her marriage, she was employed by the National Cash Register Company in Dayton, Ohio, as Assistant to the Comptroller.
Sara was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a longtime homemaker in Zanesville, a school volunteer, and a dedicated member, seamstress and actress with the Zanesville Community Theater. She was also an avid crossword puzzle and Jeopardy! enthusiast, a fashion maven, a bookworm, and a movie buff who reveled in beach vacations and never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Notre Dame and Ohio State football teams.
Sara is survived by her children, Nicholas (Beth) of Worthington, Ohio; Christopher of Osage Beach, Missouri; and Rachel of Lebanon, Ohio; her grandchildren, R.J. (Cassie), Keaton, Cameron, and Reece; and her great-granddaughter, Iris, daughter of R.J. and Cassie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Murray; her companion of 30 years, Mark Meyers; her infant daughter, Mary Catherine Murray; her son, Mark Murray; and her daughter, Rebecca Ziegler.
Sara’s warmth, wit, and love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she made brighter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Alzheimer's Association ) in Sara’s memory.
