Stephen Alexander Harvey

  Stephen Alexander Harvey, 75, of Columbus, passed away peacefully at his home on May 6, 2026. Born in Cleveland on November 19, 1950, Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Hilda and Francis Harvey; his brother, Peter Harvey; his sister, Elizabeth Szabo; his nephew, Joseph Szabo; and his niece, Lisa Szabo Woods.

  Stephen had a lifelong love of art, books, film, gardening, and music. A passionate collector of stamps and coins, and an exceptionally gifted photographer, he had a remarkable ability to find beauty everywhere he looked. After earning his Master of Library Science degree, his career led him to libraries in Chicago and throughout Ohio before ultimately bringing him to the Upper Arlington Public Library in Columbus, where he dedicated many years of service.

  Stephen is survived by his nieces Linda Szabo, Lora Szabo, Hilda Szabo Moore, and Helen Szabo; his nephew David Harvey (Mary); his cousins El Pinckney and Flynn Harvey; and his sister-in-law Donna Harvey.

  He will be deeply missed by his dear friends Gary, Gretchen, Jayne, Martin, Roy, and, above all, Peggy. Stephen will be laid to rest during a private ceremony at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
