Walter L. Thompson of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on April 6, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.  Born on March 7, 1955, in Fuchsstadt, Germany, Walter was the son of Donald E. and Leonore T. (Bayer) Thompson. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Glen and Earnest Thompson; and sister Ellen Whelan. Walter is survived by his sisters Anita English, Dorothy (Jeff Haas) Dennis, and Linda (David) Baker; sisterinlaw Cindy Thompson; special friend Linda Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Walter was the oldest of seven siblings and was always the one his family could count on in times of need. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He also had a lifelong love of hot rods and was especially proud of his ’99 Camaro SS, which he enjoyed taking to car shows. Walter spent many years working at John Valentine Masonry and later at TNT Equipment, where he eventually retired.

Per Walter’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Walter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
